Unearthing the Real France: My Top 3 Authentic Destinations

My 10-day, small-group format is designed to forge a deeper connection with the land, the people, and the flavors of France. By excluding the time sink of big-city logistics, I dedicate my energy to regions that offer a truly unique, multi-sensory adventure.

1.1 Bordeaux & The Dordogne: Wine, Terroir, and Cozy Charm

I picked this region because it truly offers the best of both worlds.

  • Bordeaux (Bdx): I love the vibrant city itself, its world-famous wineries, and the easy access to fun day excursions to the ocean.

  • Deep France Dordogne: This is the heart of authenticity for me. I adore its focus on local terroir produce and its timeless charm. Whether it's sunny or raining (and I like the rain personally, it feels cozy), the Dordogne is always magical.

2.2 French & Spanish Basque Country: A Lifelong Love Affair

I fell in love with the Basque Country when I was a kid and have never stopped returning as soon as I was able to take the train or drive. It offers an incredible package:

  • Natural Diversity: The sheer diversity of the scenery, the rapid change of weather, the ocean air, and the mountains all packed into one region.

  • Gastronomic Delight: The unique gastronomy is simply superb. We dip into the Spanish Basque Country to enjoy their famous pintxos—which are essentially small, elaborate snacks, usually served on a piece of bread, pinned together with a toothpick. They are culinary masterpieces, full of flavor and curiosity!

3.3 Corsica Island: My Family Escape and Untamed Beauty

Corsica is easily one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited, and I am lucky enough to go a few times a year to visit my sister, godson, and family there.

  • The Island Mix: It's a perfect blend of mountain and Mediterranean beauty.

  • Accessibility and Vibe: It's not too far from the mainland (about an hour's plane ride from Toulouse Airport, or less than two hours from Paris Airport). The locals have a strong cultural identity, making it the perfect setting for a beautiful adventure and a complete reset.
